What is your role as a leader? There are so many theories about leadership covering what you should do and how you should do it? The only problem is that most are focused on transforming the leader with the hope that they will do enough work on themselves to make them influential. However, when I think about the most influential person in my life, they did one thing. They showed me who I could be.
This is why I'm so excited to share our podcast conversation for this week with Dr. William Attaway, author of the book Catalytic Leadership. He is on a mission to help catalytic leaders grow and thrive.
You may be wondering, what is a Catalytic leader? Simply put, consider your role as a leader as being to do 1 thing. To act as a catalyst in the greatness of others!
John C. Maxwell defines leadership as influence. Period. Then the next question in one's mind should be, how do I gain influence. Influence is gained when we serve as what Myron Golden calls a high energy source that propels another person into reaching their potential. The job of a leader is to help each team member see themselves as the person they could be, believe they are capable, and begin to walk into the shoes they were born to fill.
In this conversation William shares, the two foundational principles of catalytic leadership, how to know when you're not the right leader for that assignment, and what to do when you have lost the respect of your team.
Dr. Attaway says, "No one will pay you to work on your character, but they will fire you if you don't."

Reflect on these questions: Who is the most influential person in your life? And why?
Great leadership should be viewed from the eyes of those whom they impacted. Lately, I've been thinking about how much we celebrate people after they have moved on to glory 🕊. It saddens me. Can we start to make giving people their flowers when they are still with us a norm?
Let the people who have made you who you are, know what they mean to you while you still have the opportunity.
Thank you for your time. HAPPY WEEK!
