At the beginning of any project in life and business, the critical starting point is:
HOW TO BUILD A STEADY FOUNDATION?
We must spend a lot of time and energy on how to ensure that we've observed the basics of success in that area of life. We ignore the fundamentals at our own peril. There's a way that things must be done before we add onto it. The foundation of a house has to be steady, otherwise, when we think the project is done, cracks in the wall start to emerge. A recipe has to follow certain steps, otherwise, when we think the cake is baked to perfection, it flops instead of rising.
Similarly in our walk as faith entrepreneurs, kingdom entrepreneurs, we have to set our foundation on The One to whom our faith is based. Otherwise, all roads look really enticing, but in the end, they lead to destruction.
"There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death." - Proverbs 14: 12
The things of this world have a seductive quality about them, making it easy to get fixated on them. I believe this is the reason the Bible says don't worry about your earthly needs.
Oh, how we can get creative in the ways we think about our earthly needs! I've fallen into this trap many times before. Whether it's the obsession to make it or the high of being on the grind or the attraction of a luxurious life ...etc. It's all just distractions!
I don't know if you've ever experienced this as a parent; you tell your child you've got the candy or ice cream or whatever they want, they don't need to worry about it. And they keep asking, did you get the candy? Out of annoyance, you keep repeating, it's there, it's yours, don't worry about it, no one's going to take it. I will give it to you after dinner. And they still ask, did you get me the candy? Sometimes they're right to keep asking, after all, the last time we said that we didn't live up to our promise.
Aren't we blessed to have a God who doesn't break promises? Don't worry, focus on the Kingdom and the rest will be added to you.
Not worrying about our needs doesn't imply being careless with our lives. Praying and asking God for guidance, for a blue-print takes away worry.
I assume that most of us as entrepreneurs are asking God to take us to a place where we've never been. God knows the way. He is the WAY. As His sheep, we wait for The Shepherd to lead us to green pastures and still waters (Psalm 23)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
We can stop worrying about our needs (What a relief!) and place our focus and trust in God
without any hesitation or distraction. All the things we need are already taken care of.
How can that be? It's mind-boggling.
The TRUTH.
The children of God have an unfair advantage. It's called God's FAVOUR.
It's not about how hard we work, although we are to work as unto the Lord and not man (Colossians 3: 23 - 24). It's not about how clever we are, although God gives wisdom to all who ask (James 1: 5). It's not about superior IQs or education, although
the gifts we possess when stewarded well will open doors for us (Proverbs 18: 16).
It's about our relationship with The Father.
We can trust in His promises and in knowing that He blesses His children.
"When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the LORD blessed him."Genesis 26: 12
Thank God. It's not in our hands. It's not about our abilities or lack of them.
When God is in it, all we need is provided.
On those days when we are overcome by our humanity and weakness, there's a supernatural strength available if we are in Christ.
"Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." ~ John 15 : 4
We have been given the blue-print for success: In all our doings SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM.
